I Nuno Sousa defended his PhD thesis, which he developed within the UniRCell project, entitled "Materials for Solid Alkaline Fuel Cells". Nuno explored the properties of bacterial cellulose and of composites using bacterial cellulose as the polymer matrix, for application in Solid Alkaline Fuel Cells. He also investigated the potential of novel electrocatalysts for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER), such as perovskites and Ruddlesden-Popper phases. The supervising team was composed of project coordinator, Dr. Filipe Figueiredo, and of Dr. Armando Silvestre.
